A Day In Estes Park – Colorado Day 2

Estes ParkFor the past few years I promised myself, if I ever have a chance to go to Colorado, Estes Park would be a must. I was always so intrigued by Colorado’s wildlife. The thought of seeing a wolf, mountain lion, bear, elk, etc. in the wild was fascinating to me. Maybe it’s the fact that you usually have to pay to go to a zoo to have that experience.

We started the day with breakfast in Downton Denver at Syrup, which was packed. We ended up having to wait to be seated and didn’t mind because that just meant that the place was probably good. I ordered a cup of coffee, a breakfast classic (The Mile High Tower), and a side of pancake to share with Renee while she ordered a hot chocolate and The Jan Omelette. Overall, Syrup was amazing and is a place that I would recommend to go have breakfast in the Denver area. We then hit the road to our next destination: Estes Park.

So I have a confession. I usually like to speed when I drive. However, when I am driving in other states or countries, I tend to drive a whole lot slower. Being in Colorado during the winter time might had me driving like a grandma. I was just being extra cautious since there was still snow on the ground and driving in the mountains with snow wasn’t something I was comfortable to.

The road kind of sucked and was inconvenient on the way to Estes Park. When you’re driving in between the mountains to Estes, it’s mostly a one way road. Being a slow driver wasn’t my best interest, but safety first… am I right?

When we arrived to Estes, we were greeted by elk on the road. After driving further into the city, we parked and started walking around Estes, eventually into a trial. This trial was such a beautiful trail until we encountered some elk.

One thing that we both were warned was to be careful of the elk, as they tend to get pretty aggressive. I mean, they’re no mountain lion, but still… when they’re only a few feet from you, it’s hard to keep walking and just act cool. Every time we tried to take a step closer to the elk, they looked like they might attack.

We ended up walking back, until we stumbled upon a group of people who were also taking a walk. We ended up following that group since they knew what they were doing. After, finally getting past the elk we kept walking until it started to get dark and was time to head back to the city. Estes Park Estes Park Estes Park Estes Park Estes ParkEstes Park Estes Park Estes Park Estes ParkEstes Park Estes Park Estes Park Estes Park Estes Park Estes Park
