What I Majored in

What I Majored inI did it. I cannot believe I am done with college. All the hard work and things I gave up these past years was worth it. To be honest with you guys, I had a lot of mixed feelings about graduating, and here is why.

I graduated high school in May 2014 from a charter school called North Hills Preparatory. When I graduated three years ago, I wanted to pursue my dreams and go into fashion school. With weeks of thinking, I decided the wisest thing for me to do is major in Business Administration and that is when I chose to go to the University of Texas at Dallas.

If you want to major in Business Administration you might feel pressured by people warning you against it. A lot of people would tell me that it is not a true major since it does not focus on one particular subject. People would advice me to major in Marketing or Finance, etc. In a way, I knew what people were telling me was true, but I did not really take anyone’s advice because I knew why I was majoring in this degree and that changing it would be a waste of my time.

Majoring in Business Administration gives you many opportunities and opens several doors to different career paths. It is a broad degree program and gives you little bits of information you need to know. I got my degree within three years, which I only did because this is not the only degree I plan to obtain. I did not want to waste time because I have other plans and routes I wish to take to get to where I want to be.

What I Majored inThe biggest struggles I faced within these three years was knowing how to balance my time. I always pushed myself to take at least 18 credits a semester (and then of course there was a semester where I took 22 credits…!) so that I could keep myself on track of graduating in three years. I also worked two jobs during college, which… yikes made balancing time so much more difficult! Do I recommend anyone to do what I did? Absolutely not. But if you ask me today whether I regret anything I would say no because I am always up for a challenge, determined, and willing to push myself to reach my goal… even if it means sacrificing your social life, and must I add, your blogging life.

And to answer why I had mixed feelings on graduating, well… it starts with you personally questioning yourself and secretly freaking out whether you are ready for the real world. Oh, and of course being sad about not having the small things in your life that you had in college. But the overall feelings are feelings of accomplishment, joyfulness, and determination. I am so ready for my journey in life, the question is are you?
