This trip was different than any trip I have ever taken. I usually travel with my friends or with my family, but never the two combined. As you guys saw on my Instagram, I’ve started a Mothers-Daughter-Trip with both my mom and me and my best friend, Sydney, and her mom.

We were wanting to escape the Texas heat and travel to a place where we could experience fall foliage. After thinking of several great places to visit, we all narrowed it down to Michigan. I definitely recommend going to Michigan in the fall because there’s a lot you could do. For starters, you can buy apple cider sugar donuts from just about anywhere. I can go on and on about how delicious the apple cider donuts were that I literally could not stop eating them.  If I were ever to go back to Michigan, it would be for the donuts.

Some places in Michigan reminded me of Texas, but overall it was completely different. One thing that I was really shocked of was how slow-paced Michigan was. The highways, restaurants, and streets were so empty compared to Texas.

If you’re planning on visiting Michigan anytime soon, this post (followed by another 2) will give you anything you need to know: from a place to stay, restaurants to visit, and things to do!

Since we only stayed for a few days in Michigan, we didn’t get a chance to explore the whole state. We were wanting to see the Tunnel of Trees in Harbor Springs (4-5 hour drive up North), but we decided to relax and stay in the southern part of Michigan. The cities we visited were Dearborn, Ann Arbor, Dexter, South Lyon, and Ypsilanti. Out of the cities we saw, Dexter happened to be my favorite.

WHERE WE STAYED

We stayed at the Dearborn Inn Hotel in Dearborn, Michigan. Just a little historical background, this hotel was built in 1931 by Henry Ford. As you walked into the lobby, you could hear classical music play. The furniture was so dreamy that it made you feel like you were suddenly in Europe. Through the back doors of the lobby was an enchanted garden surrounded by tiny houses for you to stay in.
